Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Tax Service Agency (BP2D) is facing a dilemma. Targeted to be able to record more than Rp500 billion in tax revenue in 2019, what is happening is that more and more Taxpayers (WP) are applying for payment relief.

In early May 2019 alone, there were already hundreds of files of applications for reductions and relief piled up on the desk of the Head of BP2D Malang City, Ir. H. Ade Herawanto, MT.
"Of course this is an ironic situation. At a time when we have to be able to achieve such a high target, but on the other hand more and more people are applying for relief for various regional tax payments," said Sam Ade d'Kross, the nickname of the Head of BP2D Malang City, Thursday (9/5/2019).
The mechanism for granting reductions is not against the rules. The procedure is even stated in standard rules. For example, specifically for land tax, namely Land & Building Tax (PBB) is regulated in Law Number 28 of 2009 concerning Regional Taxes & Regional Retributions and Mayor Regulation (Perwal) Number 15 of 2013.
"With the mayor's approval, we can indeed provide PBB reductions and relief with a maximum percentage of up to 75%. However, there are special classifications and procedures that apply," continued Sam Ade, who is also known as an Aremania figure.
Meanwhile, for the relief of Land & Building Acquisition Tax (BPHTB) or commonly called sales and purchase tax refers to Law No. 28 of 2009 and also Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 15 of 2010 with a maximum relief percentage of 25%. Meanwhile, for other regional taxes, relief of up to a maximum of 50% also applies.
Among them, taxpayers who are entitled to apply for reductions or relief are veterans defending independence, retired civil servants/BUMD/BUMN, low-income people, taxpayers whose NJOP increases due to environmental changes and corporate taxpayers.
The tax objects that can be subject to reduction are objects in the form of cultural heritage, agricultural land/plantations/fisheries/livestock with limited yields and tax objects due to natural disasters. In response to this, Ade hopes that the public can be wiser in applying for regional tax relief.
"So not all taxpayers can immediately apply for relief. We also do not discriminate in providing reductions. There are aspects of eligibility and considerations such as social and economic conditions and taxpayers who truly meet the requirements. All must also be in line with regulations," said the man who is also the East Java Amateur Boxing coach for the 2019-2023 period.
Ade then gave an example such as an appeal displayed in his office, so that the public does not flock to file objections or ask for leniency even though they are actually able to pay their obligations. (hms/yon)
