Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The New Student Admissions (PPDB) for Junior High Schools (SMP) in Malang City received a thumbs up from the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP. This appreciation was given when the former UMM Chancellor was present to monitor the implementation of PPDB at SMPN 1 Malang City, Monday (20/5/2019).
Minister Muhadjir expressed his deep appreciation for what the Malang City Education Office has done in implementing new student admissions. According to him, what has been done is in accordance with Permendikbud number 51 of 2018 concerning PPDB.
"I think the implementation of PPDB at SMPN 1 Malang City has been very good. Parents feel comfortable with the service," explained Minister Muhadjir, Monday (20/5/2019).
The zoning system is not only intended for PPDB, more than that, according to him, it can be applied to improve education standards throughout Indonesia. Starting from the curriculum, distribution of teachers, distribution of students, and also the quality of facilities and infrastructure. "Everything will be improved and handled based on zoning," he said.
After this, the Ministry of Education and Culture also requested that there be teacher rotation so that teachers in each region are evenly distributed. "There should not be good teachers just piling up in one place," he added.
Through the zoning system, the government can also more easily inventory and verify the condition of educational facilities and then carry out the necessary interventions according to needs.
"What is still lacking, we will pay attention to through funds from the center, namely through special allocation funds, and not forgetting also through the regional revenue and expenditure budget," he explained again.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Education Office, Dra. Zubaidah, MM, revealed that the implementation of PPDB in Malang City has been in accordance with applicable regulations. She said that there are three paths in PPDB, namely zoning, achievement, and mutation/transfer.
"The PPDB selection is not based on grades but based on the distance from home to school, we implement it one hundred percent as the Permendikbud," said Zubaidah. (cah/yon)
