Sutiaji Invites Private Schools to Improve Quality

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said that equalizing education is an obligation that must be carried out by the government. Private schools and public schools, through the zoning PPDB pathway, are expected to be able to jointly produce students who have good quality.

School Organizer Coordination Meeting in the Malang City Education Office Hall

This was stated by the Mayor of Malang during the Coordination Meeting of School Organizers (Foundation Chairs and Private School Principals) at the Malang City Education Office Hall, Wednesday (29/5/2019).

He explained that up to now, quality educational institutions, whether junior high or elementary schools, have only been found in the city center, while state schools on the outskirts or several private schools have often been looked down upon.

Therefore, with the equalization of education through zoning, it is hoped that education in Malang City can be equal. "State or private junior high schools and elementary schools have a shared task in educating the nation," said Sutiaji.

Through this equalization of education, it is hoped that schools that have been given the title of 'outlying schools' can perform as well as schools that have been leading schools.

"There will no longer be an assumption that inner-city schools are good and suburban schools are bad, now it is evenly distributed, including how private schools can compete in terms of quality," he said.

The Mayor of Malang also said that later it would be projected that there would be an increase in Bosda (Regional School Operational Assistance) for private schools in the hope of being able to lighten the burden and so that they can compete with other schools.

Currently, it is reported that the Malang City Government is also targeting the increase in the Regional Original Income (PAD) so that it is expected to be able to increase assistance for schools and students. "Therefore, I ask that private schools improve their quality so that they can accommodate Rombel (study groups) well," he said.

The Mayor of Malang also hopes that the zoning system in the 2019 PPDB will not affect the achievements that have been carved by Malang City in the field of education. "This year is a joint proof that even though using the zoning system, the best value achievements will still be achieved by Malang City," he concluded. (hms/yon)
