Harmonization Becomes Focus of FGD on Internationalization of Abdulrahman Saleh Airport

Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Focus Group Discussions (FGD) on the Internationalization of Abdulrachman Saleh Airport was held in the Binayudha Room of Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base, Thursday (20/6/2019).

The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, was present on this occasion accompanied by representatives from the Malang City Research and Development Agency, the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office and the Head of Public Relations of the Malang City Regional Secretariat.

Also present representing the Governor of East Java were the Head of the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency, Dr. Ir. H. RB. Fattah Jasin, MS and the Commander of Wing 2 of Abdurachman Saleh Air Force Base, Colonel Pnb Meka Yudanto, S.Sos, MAP.

This FGD aims to discuss the synchronization between the needs of Abdurahman Saleh Air Base for military and national defense interests and the interests of commercial civil aviation, especially regarding the division of flight schedules between civil and military.

"We must discuss these technical matters properly, so that all needs, both civil and military, can be served," said the Mayor of Malang.

Sutiaji also said that other technical matters related to airport facilities, the length and thickness of the asphalt on the runway must also be considered because if it becomes an international airport, many large aircraft will enter.

The same thing was also conveyed by the Head of the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency. He said that the East Java Provincial Government will continue to strive to realize this international airport.

"Several technical and supporting matters for the realization of this international airport in Malang will be our concern and priority in accordance with the direction of the Governor of East Java," he said.

"The initial idea to realize this international airport was a pure desire from the people of Malang Raya, so it has become our obligation to realize it as a form of our service," added Fattah Jasin.

Meanwhile, Meka Yudanto who represented Commander of Abdulrahman Saleh Air Force Base said that with this FGD, it is expected that there will be communication and a common perception to discuss and arrange flight schedules so that military and commercial interests can both run well. (Ts/yon)
