Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Robotics Team has again made an achievement in the Indonesian Robot Competition (KRI) in the Indonesian Fire Fighting Robot Contest (KRPAI) category held at Dian Nuswantoro University, Semarang, starting Thursday (20/6/2019) to Sunday (23/6/2019).

They are Ghufron Wahyu Kurniawan, Izzan Silmi Aziz, and Bayu Irawan Nugroho who brought 'DOME' to become the fastest robot with the best final time value; 3.44.
The UMM DOME robot was closely followed by 'EILERO', a robot team from the Surabaya State Electronic Polytechnic with a final score of 3.82. This achievement crowned the White Campus team for the third time to advance to the prestigious world-class competition, namely Trinity College Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest (TCFFHRC) at Trinity College Hartford Connecticut, United States in the second half of 2020.
In 2017, two teams from UMM won first and second place at the same time for the legged robot category. The two teams were the InaMuh team as the first winner and the Unmuh Malang team as the second winner. The InaMuh team also won the best poster award. Also in April 2019, the three UMM teams won first and second place for the legged fire extinguisher robot category, and second place for the wheeled fire extinguisher robot category.
Khusnul Hidayat as the field supervisor also opened the card that was the key to DOME's victory, "At least there are several main points that make our team superior compared to other teams. First is that our robot team uses a special liquid as a substitute for water," said Khusnul after his team received the champion trophy at The Club Graha Padma Venue.
In addition, the second is its smaller size which has a positive impact on efficiency and flexibility of movement, so that the movement of the DOME robot is slightly faster than the others. "This is what makes the UMM robot more perfect, because it has advantages in terms of movement and efficiency in extinguishing fires," said the man who is also a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UMM, Monday (24/06/2019).
Third, when passing through the obstacles in the Arena, to find the fire point and extinguish it, the UMM DOME robot was able to pass through it without any significant obstacles. So that the results obtained are more perfect and the UMM DOME Robot deserves to be crowned as the toughest opponent for all participants in the competition with a total of 22 participants in this category. This KRI event is divided into 6 categories.
"In the future, we hope that our Robotics team will continue to be successful and prosperous. "I advise my children to always follow technological developments, and in the future we will prepare a robot that will be brought to the United States to represent Indonesia because it has won this fire extinguishing robot contest," concluded Dr. Ahmad Mubin, MT. as Dean of the UMM Faculty of Engineering.
