Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Malang is ranked first in the Joint Selection for State University Entrance (SBMPTN) in Indonesia with a total of 55.871 applicants. The number is detailed as follows: for each study program, there are 33.987 applicants, while for Soshum there are 21.884 applicants.

Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of Brawijaya University Prof. Dr. drh. Aulanni'am, DES, Thursday (27/06/2019) said, for 2019 UB also ranked first in terms of the most applicants for the National Selection for Entrance to State Universities (SNMPTN).
"SBMPTN UB has the highest number of applicants in Indonesia, just like SNMPTN. Students from all over Indonesia are already familiar with UB, and there are many faculties in UB. In addition, the atmosphere and environment of Malang City, especially in UB, also support all economic groups," he said.
Aulanni'am also explained that for the 2019 SBMPTN, the scores were taken purely from Computer Based Written Exam (UTBK). "Different from other universities that may provide other criteria for the SBMPTN list. At UB, 100 percent of the value is taken from UTBK and there are no other criteria such as achievement portfolios," added Aulanni'am.
He explained that in this year's SBMPTN, the capacity for the Science and Technology study program was set at 3.627, with 18.423 applicants placing UB as their first choice and 15.564 as their second choice.
Meanwhile, for Soshum, the capacity is 1.988 with 12.580 applicants placing UB as their first choice and 9.304 as their second choice.
Meanwhile, the most popular study programs for SBMPTN are Law (2.584), Agrotechnology (2.202), Animal Husbandry (1.734), Business Administration (1.598), and Medical Education (1.468).
Meanwhile, for the Independent pathway, UB sets a quota of 30 percent of the total number of new students accepted. To further improve quality, in addition to the written test, this year UB provides other criteria in the form of an achievement portfolio for independent pathway applicants.
