The XIV Apeksi National Working Meeting was officially opened by the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Tjahjo Kumolo at the Ballroom of the Po Hotel Semarang, Wednesday (3/7). In his speech, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the mayor and deputy mayor, as well as related staff who have successfully overseen the implementation of the Simultaneous Regional Elections, Legislative Elections and Presidential Elections so that they can run democratically, safely and orderly.

"The current task and responsibility of the mayor and deputy mayor is to cool down the post-presidential election so that the situation will remain conducive," he said.

The Minister of Home Affairs added that Apeksi must play an active role in encouraging its members spread across 93 Autonomous Regions and five Administrative Regions to take steps to adjust the draft RPJMN 2020-2025 as an elaboration of the vision and mission of the President and Vice President-elect in the draft changes to the RPJMD of each region.

Meanwhile, Airin Rachmi Diani as Chair of the Apeksi Board of Directors hopes that Apeksi will be able to strengthen the network of regional governments, especially city governments, in order to support and strengthen national values and spirit while carrying out the mission of synergy between central government policies and regional government administration.

The spirit of development that grows in the region is the spirit to develop creativity and innovation that is born in the midst of society. This is in line with the doctrine of excellent, transparent, accountable and fast public service.

"All Apeksi members have committed to jointly develop their regions, no more cities that advance alone or become underdeveloped regions. We will support each other and collaborate to advance together for the welfare of the people in their respective regions," Airin emphasized.

Airin, who is the Mayor of South Tangerang, also hopes that the implementation of Apeksi will have a positive impact on cooperation between regions throughout Indonesia.

The same thing was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji. According to him, as long as the Apeksi activity is implemented, communication and coordination between 98 Mayors throughout Indonesia can run more effectively.

"Various collaborations and innovations can be discussed directly. We can also exchange ideas face to face, this is considered to be easier," he said.

At Apeksi XIV 2019, Sutiaji said that Malang City will also use it to carry out cooperation with several cities that are members of Apeksi. (Ts/yon)
