With Arts and Culture, Malang City Will Go International

Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – In addition to Blitar Regency, Tulungagung Regency and Kediri Regency, Malang City is one of the cities where the 2019 Panji Nusantara Festival will be held, which also serves as a means of leveraging to increase the number of tourist visits, especially foreign tourists.

This event, which is spearheaded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, is also to introduce and foster a love for ancestral cultural heritage among young people (millennials).

Head of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M. Si, Thursday (11/7/2019) after the opening of the 2019 Panji Nusantara Festival at Taman Krida Budaya East Java revealed that her party will continue to hold events like this regularly. "Events like this are one of the effective means to boost tourist visits, especially from abroad," she explained.

He added that Indonesia is very rich in traditional arts and culture inherited from our ancestors, and this cannot be separated from the existence of kingdoms in this country, such as Singhasari and Majapahit.

"To preserve and so that there is a sense of belonging from various elements of society, especially young people, one of the government's efforts is to hold the Panji Nusantara Festival," said Ida.

In Malang City, the Panji Nusantara Festival agenda is the largest venue, because it displays many arts and cultures from various regions, such as from Bali and Bandung. In addition, it is also enlivened by various events, namely mask exhibitions and other cultural products.

In 2017, Ida revealed that Malang City held an international Panji Festival, this year the Nusantara Panji Festival, and in 2021 an international one will be held again. "This biennial event will be held by Malang City differently and as interestingly as possible, so that the level of tourist visits, especially foreign tourists, continues to increase," explained the bespectacled woman.

"The Panji culture is stories that have been packaged in our society, such as Wayang Topeng Malang, which our millennial generation must know. Even the Panji story has spread to Southeast Asia, so we can sell it to tourists, both domestic and foreign through ministries, travel agents and through other promotional materials," added Ida.

In the 4th or 5th event, he explained, there will be a special assessment from the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism for Malang City. "This will also promote Malang City to the international level from the sector of preserving national culture and creative arts and culture," concluded Ida. (say/yon)
