Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) opened the 2019th National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) 25 with the theme Synergy and Innovation in Inflation Control for Strengthening an Inclusive Economy, held at the Grand Hall Room of the Sahid Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (7/2019/XNUMX).
According to Vice President JK, a controlled inflation rate, state revenue, and economic growth (Gross Domestic Product/GDP) are indicators of a nation's progress. Inflation will also affect people's purchasing power. Vice President JK emphasized that the key to control (inflation) is stability.
"For Indonesia, inflation in the range of three is good. That is mild inflation. Of course, price control must still be accompanied by a good and systemic distribution policy. So I also remind you, don't make the distribution channel long, because that contributes to high prices," he explained.
The Vice President likened inflation control to maintaining blood pressure. High is not good, low is also not good.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, who was present at the TPID National Coordination Meeting with the Regional Secretary of Malang City and the Head of the Economic Development Section of the Regional Secretariat of Malang City, emphasized that Malang City as an urban city, in addition to the technical aspects of price control and distribution arrangements, the crucial thing is to change mindset urban residents who have consumerist tendencies.
"That (consumptive behavior) must be shifted towards a productive pattern. Therefore, we are also keen to strengthen the creative economy," he said.
Perry Warjiyo, Governor of Bank Indonesia, acting as the Chairperson of the National Coordination Meeting, stated the importance of developing inter-regional trade.
"Regions must complement and strengthen each other. Cooperation between regions will be one of the points and solutions to fill the limitations of the availability of (basic) materials," Perry said.
He added that inflation control must be accompanied by development growth. "BI concern "For this matter, including through a strategy of lowering interest rates so that production can grow, along with a strategy to control inflation rates," he explained.
In line with the policy developed by BI, the Malang City Government as stated by the Mayor of Malang is building a Perumda which is expected to be able to encourage and stimulate productivity, namely through Perumda Tunas. (hms/yon)
