Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The increasing ease for people to access train transportation means that Malang Station is never empty of passengers.
Head of Kotabaru Malang Station, Radne Anyarso Tulad admitted that currently the public's enthusiasm for taking the train transportation mode continues to increase. "Especially during weekends, the public's enthusiasm for using the train is very high," explained Radne.
There are efforts to add a number of new train trips on the northern track, he said, one of which is the Surabaya-Malang route. Ratne saw that Malang City itself has a uniqueness in using trains.
"The occupancy of train passengers in Malang is quite good, especially on weekends the figure can reach 90 to 100 percent," said Radne.
Radne explained that the average number of train passengers at Malang Station was recorded at around 3.000 – 3.500 passengers on weekdays, while on weekends it reached 4.500 – 5.000 passengers.
"That's for all medium and long-distance trips. But the most is the Surabaya-Malang relationship," said Radne.
The high demand, he continued, made PT KAI add additional train operations for the Surabaya – Gubeng to Malang PP route. If previously the train only operated on weekends, now it is every day.
This is to fulfill the public's desire to utilize the Jayakarta Premium train series for the Surabaya, Gubeng - Pasar Senen, Jakarta route. Then run until Malang Station assisted by the local train.
