Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – An ancient object in the form of a Yoni was found by residents who were digging the foundation of a house on Jl Joyo Utomo, Merjosari Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City, Wednesday (14/8/2019).

Sugiono said the discovery of the Yoni artifact in the form of a mortar was actually a week ago when he and his friends were digging the foundation of the house. Initially it was thought to be an ordinary stone but after digging deeper it turned out to be a Yoni.
"We have reported to the boarding house owner, currently we have moved Yoni to the side so that it does not interfere with the excavation of the house foundation," explained Gendon, Sugiono's nickname, Wednesday (14/8).
Gendon added that the boarding house to be built is owned by Gresik residents who will build boarding houses on Jl. Joyo Utomo. After the report was made, Gendon admitted that the Malang City cultural heritage expert team had visited the location.
Residents around the location where the Eni Lestari site was discovered said the site had actually been known for quite some time and had been reported to the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office. Initially the site only appeared a little above the ground like an ordinary stone.
"Only after digging to make the foundation did it turn out that the site was quite large in the form of a Yoni and mortar," said Eni.
Eni hopes for attention from the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office to handle this valuable site. Because if it is not maintained and buried under a boarding house, it would be very concerning.
Responding to this, the Head of Tourism Marketing for the Tourism Division of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office, Agung H. Buana, admitted that he already knew the location of the Yoni. His party is still waiting for the time to lift the artifact.
"It used to appear small and was in an alley. The Yoni is already in our records, just waiting for the time to be lifted," explained Agung.
The ancient artifact in the form of Yoni is estimated to be an ancient artifact symbol of fertility made during the ancient Hindu era. The Yoni is made of andesite stone measuring 66 cm long, 80 cm high, and 61 cm wide. (cah/yon)
