Breadfruit (maangkota.go.id) – The excitement in welcoming the 74th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was also felt by the disabled, namely the blind who are under the guidance of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) for Social Rehabilitation of the Blind, East Java Provincial Social Service, Jl. Beringin No. 13, Bandungrejosari, Sukun District, Malang City.
Hundreds of blind people living in the Janti area of Malang City took part in a unique marching competition that still carried creativity.
The chairman of the competition committee, Ribut Budiono, Friday (16/08/2019) said that this competition could be called unique because actually, for blind people, it is quite difficult to walk normally, let alone for the line competition.
But this is not a barrier and instead becomes a motivation for these children to be able to progress even further.
Not only from the line-up, the creativity and uniqueness of the costumes they wear are elements of the judges' assessment.
"So that in addition to the echo of the Independence Day commemoration can be felt, these children are required to be more creative through the suggestions of what kind of costumes they want," he explained.
Using sticks that are connected and tied together, each group shows off their skills in front of the jury by shouting slogans, paying respects, doing walking movements in place and so on.
The excitement and togetherness between the blind people and the educators were very strong, as expected.
“Various other competitions will also be held in the rehabilitation complex area, such as gymnastics, cracker eating and water fighting competitions.
"Thus, these disabled people also feel and are grateful for the meaning of independence, like other citizens," concluded Budi. (say/yon)
