Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Department of Culture and Tourism (Disbudpar) held a Mpu Purwa Museum Collection Drawing Competition for Elementary & Junior High School levels at the Mpu Purwa Museum, Jl. Soekarno-Hatta B No. 210, Wednesday (21/08/2019) to Thursday (22/08/2019). On the first day of implementation, Wednesday (21/08/2019), 108 participants from elementary schools throughout Malang City participated.
Head of History, Traditional Values and Museums, Cultural Division of Malang City Culture and Tourism Office, Dra. Wiwik Wiharti Rodiah, M.Si said that the museum collection drawing competition was to provide historical education from an early age.
"Many people from outside Malang City want to take part in this competition, but we are limiting it, because there are already so many participants from Malang City alone," explained Wiwik, Wednesday (21/8).
Wiwik added, before joining the competition, the participants were first invited to tour the Mpu Purwa Museum collection. In this way, it is hoped that the museum collection will be embedded in the minds of the children so that it can foster a love. "The first day of the elementary school level competition, on the second day it was filled with a junior high school level drawing competition," said Wiwik.
The activity held at the Mpu Purwa Museum is also part of the museum visit month. Where from the museum children can learn various interesting histories that were previously unknown. (cah/yon)
