Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, is apparently someone who is serious about writing. This was revealed during an audience of literacy activists who are members of the Malang Raya Book Writing Community (Komalku Raya) with the Mayor of Malang at the Malang City Hall, Wednesday (28/8).
In this audience, Sutiaji said that he used to be the founder of the Student Press Activity Unit (UAPM) Innovation. In addition, he also often sent book reviews. "I sent it to the Jawa Pos newspaper and got Rp6.500. That amount of money at that time was quite a lot," said Sutiaji nostalgically.
The activity of sending reviews was carried out when he was a student at UIN Maliki Malang around 1984. Over time, when there was a change in the book review rubric, it was replaced by another rubric, making him stop writing reviews. "It was replaced by an expert rubric, but we can't, because we are students, not experts," he added.
Sutiaji hopes that literacy activists can continue to promote writing, because writing is very useful. In addition, according to Sutiaji, writing has many benefits. "People who are used to writing, their thoughts will be coherent, as well as when speaking in public," he said.
Meanwhile, Komalku Raya Chairperson Anis Hidayatie said that the purpose of her community's audience was to request a foreword for two books that her community would publish. "In addition, we also want the Mayor (of Malang) to write a book. We will help, to inspire others," said Anis. (toriq/EM/yon)
