Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, inaugurated the Kayutangan area, Jl. Jend. Basuki Rahmat as the Heritage Capital of Malang City, Friday (30/8/2019). The Mayor of Batu, Dra. Dewanti Rumpoko, M.Si was also present at the inauguration event.
The Mayor of Malang on this occasion was accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP, the Head of OPD in the Malang City Government and several invited guests who wore clothes with a vintage feel. This further strengthens the heritage impression that is intended to be displayed in the Kayutangan area.
Kayutangan was chosen as the Heritage Capital because in this area there are still ancient buildings from the past. This is an attraction that strengthens the creative economy sector that is being boosted by the Malang City Government.
"Here is the Heritage Village that strengthens Kayutangan's position as the Heritage Capital. In the future, we will develop this," said Sutiaji.
In addition to the creative economy sector, Sutiaji said the inauguration of the Heritage Capital City also boosted the tourism sector and is expected to attract tourists, both from abroad and domestically.
"Incidentally, next year the airport in Malang will become an international airport, so Kayutangan has the potential to become an international tourist destination," he explained.
He also said that in 2020 the Kayutangan area will be made one-way to make it easier and more comfortable for tourists to enjoy the location. "We will shift the median and widen the sidewalk to space (read: pedestrian) space," said Sutiaji. (Sa/yon)
