Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Until now, the revision of the KPK law carried out by the Indonesian House of Representatives is still reaping controversy and causing polemics in various circles. The revision of this law is considered not in line with the duties and responsibilities of the KPK and is suspected of being able to weaken the anti-corruption institution in preventing and eradicating corruption.
Of the 10 revised articles, those that will make the KPK's work less than optimal include restrictions on wiretapping, the formation of a supervisory board by the Indonesian House of Representatives and the reduction of the KPK's strategic authority in managing and examining LHKPN. After deliberation and discussion, this revision is unnecessary for the KPK, because the impact will be less good.
This was conveyed by KPK Spokesperson, Febri Diansyah, Friday (06/09/2019) when holding a public discussion in a series of events of the KPK Bus Roadshow 209 Jelajah Negeri Bangun Antikorupsi in Malang City. According to Febri, the stakes of this revision are in the hands of the President, and if the President does not want to discuss or does not approve, then the revision plan will automatically fail.
After sending a letter and providing input to the President, he explained, the KPK is optimistic that the President will listen to the KPK's advice, because so far the President has often said that there will be no weakening of the KPK. "If the performance is not optimal, then the impact will be less good on various sectors, such as legal certainty in investing," the bespectacled man said.
According to Febri, the KPK leadership can change, but what is more important is how to maintain and save the KPK institution, as well as the system in the KPK. "So far, the KPK has worked quite well and the revision of the law as conveyed by the Indonesian House of Representatives does not need to be done because the impact will not be good," he concluded.
