Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – Slums are one of the jobs of a city. Likewise with Malang City which still has slum areas.

"Yes, we (Malang City) still have slum areas. Moreover, the contour of the area is directly adjacent to the River Basin Area (DAS) or riverbanks. From the data available until the end of 2018, the remaining slum areas (in Malang City) are 298,22 ha," explained the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji on the sidelines of the signing of the Minutes of Handover of State Property Grants from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing to the Regional Government which was held at the Office of the Ministry of PUPR RI Jakarta, Tuesday (10/9/2019).
From the data released by the Ministry of PUPR RI, for East Java Province, there are five cities and seven regencies that received the grant process. For Malang City, the type of state-owned goods donated is worth Rp3.855.905.000, which comes from the 2017 State Budget funds which are realized in the project to improve the quality of slum settlements in the Purwantoro area.
Based on the Approval of the Ministry of PUPR number: PS. 04.03-mn/599 dated March 13, 2019, the construction of the Purwantoro complex road area that was donated includes:
1. U-Gatter Channel 30.50.120.5 cm, 1.270, 9 m
2. U-Gatter Channel 40.60.120.6 cm, 102 m
3. U-Gatter Channel 60.70.120.7 cm, 81,6 m
4. Road Construction (Paving Stone) 1.819,6 m
5. Construction of 401 m asphalt road
6. Construction of 2.214 m River Stone Channel
7. Construction of two water gates
"The target of the Purwantoro area is to improve the quality of slum settlements by overcoming waterlogging and repairing environmental roads so that the community has adequate road access," explained Sutiaji who was accompanied by the Head of the Malang City PUPR Ir. Hadi Santoso and the Assistant for Economic Affairs of the Malang City Secretariat.
This badminton enthusiast added that in Purwantoro Subdistrict there is a total area of 25,24 ha of slums, and the construction of the complex road has the benefit of reducing the slum area by 2,52 ha.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bureau of State Property Management of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Setyawan, informed that the total value of the state property donated was IDR 3,071 trillion, the projects of which were spread across the provinces of Bali, West Java, East Java, Central Kalimantan, NTB and North Sulawesi.
"Specifically for East Java Province, the value is IDR 152,611 billion spread across five cities and seven regencies, including Malang City, Batu City, Blitar City, Surabaya City, Kediri City, Madiun Regency, Ngawi Regency, Banyuwangi Regency, Nganjuk Regency, Situbindo Regency, Lamongan Regency and Probolinggo Regency," said Budi Setyawan.
Specifically, the PUPR Ministry also gave appreciation to the regional heads who attended in person as a manifestation of the strong commitment of their regional heads. (hms/yon)
