Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – From Malang City for Indonesia and the world that is often promoted by the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji is increasingly finding its space. This time it was realized at the YUZU Indonesia Masters 2019 which will be held on October 1-6, 2019 at the Ken Arok Sports Arena (GOR), Malang City, East Java.

The YUZU Indonesia Masters, which is competing for a total prize of USD75 thousand, is part of the BWF World Tour Super 100 tournament series. The event, which is included in grade 2 level 6 in the BWF world tour, is one of the top three elite tournaments held in Indonesia after the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters and Blibli Indonesia Open this year.
"This is a very proud trust, (Malang City) was appointed as the host of the event. Because there will be around 302 badminton players from 15 countries participating, including from China, Japan, Thailand, India and many more," explained the Mayor of Malang on the sidelines of attending a press conference at the Glass House, Pacific Place, Ritz Carlton, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/9/2019).
Sutiaji also hopes that this will also be a medium to further foster a sense of love and pride for the sport of badminton, which is indeed one of the world's (badminton) powers.
"On the other hand, event which will be held in Malang City will clearly provide multiple effects, both in terms of tourism and the economy," he added.
In front of the General Chairperson of PB PBSI, Wiranto, the Mayor of Malang also emphasized that Malang is safe and comfortable for international scale events.
"We have a slogan 'Salam Satu Jiwa', meaning that there is one soul 'Red and White' which has Malang City always building an egalitarian, tolerant spirit, because everyone has the same blood, red, so there is no intolerant attitude in Bhumi Arema. And white, depicts a sincere intention that from Malang City we contribute to Indonesia and also encourage achievements to the world level," he added.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee of YUZU Indonesia Masters 2019, Achmad Budiharto, said that the tournament was an important moment to motivate badminton players to win the title.
In addition, this event is also useful for honing and increasing the flying hours of young badminton players in the international arena.
"From Indonesia, the mainstay men's doubles badminton players who will compete are Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Berry Anggriawan and Haridanto," said Achmad Budiarto.
"We hope that the YUZU Indonesia Masters can be a success, because this tournament will be used as one of the tournaments to collect points ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and of course this tournament will be a competition between young badminton players from various countries. They can gain experience competing here," added Achmad Budiharto.
Meanwhile, PB PBSI Chairman, Wiranto stated that every country has pride and honor. "Indonesia, one of the things we have and in the history of sports, badminton is a sport that brings pride to Indonesia," he said.
"That's why I'm sad when there are pros and cons related to the athlete development audience by Djarum. This should be discussed and not seen in black and white. Development is important and strategic, if the development steps are lost, then it's only a matter of time before achievements decline. Hopefully, and I believe there will be the best solution. Regarding the YUZU Master event, I hope event this well organized, and become a positive conversation in the world. And Indonesian athletes win the best title," Wiranto hoped. (hms/yon)
