Halal Tourism Bazaar Strengthens Malang City as a Halal Tourism City

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Commemorating National Santri Day 2019, the Malang City Government through the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office held a Halal Tourism Bazaar along Jl. Gajahmada Malang.

The event held on Monday (21/10/2019) to Tuesday (22/10/2019) was opened by the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji and accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Malang City and the Head of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office, Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M.Si.

In his speech, the Mayor of Malang emphasized that the halal tourism in question does not lead to radicalism but guarantees every consumer of its halalness, not only in the food ingredients but also in the process. "We must explain and spread this to the public so that there is no misunderstanding," he said.

“I think Malang is mbois ilakes with the extraordinary creativity of the people of Malang City. So it is not wrong if Malang City becomes a Creative City in Indonesia. But today focus on halal certification for restaurants and hotels, including MSMEs in Malang City," he added.

He also explained that later there will be a guarantee for consumers that what is drunk and eaten with a halal label is truly in accordance with procedures and has halal certification.

Malang City Government wants to ensure that halal tourism destinations are a unique attraction to increase tourists, both foreign and local.

"While moving forward, we want to promote MSMEs by prioritizing products that are also guaranteed to be halal," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office, Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, said that the holding of the Halal Tourism Bazaar aims to strengthen Malang City as a leading halal tourism destination, as well as to enliven the commemoration of National Santri Day in 2019.

"We are conducting socialization of halal certification for food products, especially souvenirs that will be consumed by tourists when visiting Malang City," said Ida Ayu.

Currently, the Malang City Government is submitting halal legality for 30 hotel and restaurant kitchens in Malang City to the East Java Province Food, Drug and Cosmetics Assessment Institute (LPPOM). (Ts/yon)
