Normalization is Meaningless if People Still Litter

(malangkota.go.id) – Despite intensive normalization, drainage, culverts and avur that are not functioning optimally are still found. "Almost all of them are due to behavioral factors. This means that normalization is meaningless if it turns out that there are still residents who carelessly throw away garbage and behave unwisely towards facilities or you use existing environment," said Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji in response.

Field findings on Tuesday (4/11/2019) by the Malang City PUPR Task Force while operating in the Jl. Sukarno-Hatta area, two avur collapsed and blocked the channel.

The Malang City PUPR Task Force closed last October by normalizing the water channels in the area of Jl. Sunan Kalijaga, Sumbersari Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City. There again the drainage fighters found various types of garbage that were clogging, such as plastic waste, household waste and other types of waste.

"Every month on average we normalize between 25 to 30 clogged water channels. The causes are various, there is garbage and narrowing. That's why awareness is needed, otherwise the community itself will suffer the impact if a disaster occurs," explained Soni, as the Head of DPUPR is familiarly called.

Starting November 2019, the DPUPR troops again took photos and found conditions you use environment piled up with garbage. If that's the case, how can this city be free from puddles? Let's build environmental awareness along with continuous infrastructure improvements. (public relations/yon)
