Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The 2019 Malang Mayor's Cup Swimming Championship held at the Malang State University (UM) swimming pool from Wednesday (20/11/2019) to Thursday (21/11/2019) was an event to find potential talent as well as preparation for the upcoming 2020 Regional Student Sports Week (Popda).

Malang City swimming coach, Yosi Kurniahadi admitted that an event like the Malang Mayor's Cup swimming championship is very important. According to him, from a championship like this, the development of Malang City's swimming athletes can be monitored.
"The Malang Mayor's Cup was attended by 106 male and female participants from junior high schools/senior high schools throughout Malang City. Championships like this are very good for sharpening the athletes' competitive mentality," he said, Wednesday (20/11/2019).
Through events like this, potential athletes who take part in championships can be monitored and then trained to become high-achieving athletes.
"Without a championship, a swimmer can get bored if they just train and train. Having a competition like this is very important to improve the athlete's performance," Yosi added.
By being accustomed to competing in tight competitions, a swimmer will be more prepared whenever competing, including later if chosen to represent Malang City to appear in various championship events. (cah/yon)
