Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji opened the 2019 Malang City Inter-SMP/MTs, SMA/SMK/MA Swimming Championship at the Malang State University Swimming Pool, Wednesday (20/11).

Acting Head of the Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of Malang City, Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M.Si, Head of the Education Agency Dra. Zubaidah, MM and Head of Public Relations of the Malang City Regional Secretariat M. Nur Widianto, S.Sos were also present to accompany the Mayor of Malang.
This swimming championship was held in order to develop and search for new seeds of swimming athletes in Malang City.
The Mayor of Malang hopes that through competitions like this, the competing athletes will be able to achieve at a higher level.
The championship, which was attended by 106 athletes, was also used as a selection event for preparation for the 2020 POPDA in Sidoarjo.
Sutiaji also said that he would soon sign an MoU with several stakeholders in Malang City who have swimming pool facilities in order to provide support and more opportunities for athletes to continue training.
"Because we all know, the swimming pool owned by the Malang City Government is still not suitable for operation and to build a type C swimming pool with international standards still requires funds of approximately 60 billion rupiah, so this requires a long time and process," he added.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of Malang City Youth and Sports Agency Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni in her report explained that Malang City Youth and Sports Agency will continue to facilitate athletes so they can train well and be able to improve their main achievements in the upcoming 2020 POPDA. (Ts/yon)
