Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC) together with the Malang City Trade Service held an operation to 'Eradicate Illegal Cigarettes', Thursday (21/11/2019) which targeted the Klojen Market area of Malang City.

In this inspection, officers not only checked cigarette excise stamps, but also provided outreach and education to traders so that the use of fake and/or used excise stamps could be minimized as much as possible.
Traders are also advised not to accept or sell cigarettes with fake or used tape and to attach stickers that say "Explode Illegal Cigarettes".
This operation and socialization were held considering that there are still indications of the circulation of fake and used excise stamps by certain cigarette manufacturers, especially local cigarette manufacturers in Malang Raya (Malang City, Malang Regency and Batu City).
Head of Counseling and Information Services at Malang Excise Middle Type KPPBC, Surjaningsih, said that her party not only carried out operations at the trader level, but also intensively to cigarette producers.
Until November 2019, he explained, customs officers have carried out at least 51 actions related to the use of fake and used excise stamps in a number of places in Malang Raya.
"If fake and used excise stamps are widely circulated, it will not only be the cigarette industry that will suffer losses, but also the public as consumers," explained the woman in the hijab.
In relation to this, Ningsih explained, cigarettes that use fake or used excise stamps are indicated as cigarettes being sold which are very dangerous in terms of production.
"Therefore, it requires an active role from the community, especially traders, in combating and eradicating the circulation of cigarettes using fake and used tape," he concluded. (say/yon)
