Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The 2019 Malang Open X Karate National Championship (Kejurnas) held by the FORKI Malang City Management Board attracted the attention of karate athletes from various regions in Indonesia, such as Central Kalimantan, DKI Jakarta and even from neighboring countries, namely Brunei Darussalam.

The annual event held at GOR Ken Arok Malang City was attended by 1.507 karateka and lasted for two days starting from Saturday (23/11/2019) to Sunday (24/11/2019). From the various classes and categories competed, the organizers prepared prizes in the form of trophies, coaching money and undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang City.
The Head of FORKI Pengcab Malang City, Nurcholis Sunuyeko, who is also the Chancellor of IKIP Budi Utomo, after the opening of the national championship said that as an appreciation for karate athletes who win gold medals, they will receive additional prizes.
The scholarships obtained can also be given to the families of gold medal winning karate athletes if the athlete already has a bachelor's degree or does not want to take the bonus.
On the other hand, through this championship it is also intended to produce professional and quality karate athletes. "So that when the championship is held at various levels, Indonesian karateka and especially from Malang City can achieve proud achievements," explained Nurcholis, Saturday (23/11/2019)
A similar statement was also delivered by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH after opening the national championship. According to him, although this event is a sporting event, it also has a significant impact on economic growth and tourism visits for this City of Education.
"These athletes come from various regions and usually with their families, where they will certainly stay at hotels and look for interesting tourist destinations. This is where the positive impact can be felt by a region that hosts an event," said Wasto. (say/yon)
