Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Garbage and Sediment Transport Movement (GASS) is planned to be inaugurated on Friday (27/12/2019) by the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji.

GASS is a real step by the Malang City Government in combating waste, cultivating a clean and healthy life. GASS will be the main slogan in combating waste in Malang City.
Starting the movement, the Malang City PUPR Task Force supported by combing the LA. Sucipto Street area with the target of normalizing water channels or drainage.
"Starting this morning, colleagues (DPUPR Task Force_RED) move and identify the presence of water channel disturbances, the reality is a pile of garbage," said the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR) of Malang City, Ir. Hadi Santoso, Friday (20/12/19).
During the activity, Hadi Santoso said that many trashes were found and transported by officers while combing Jalan LA. Sucipto. Officers found various types of trash that should not have been thrown away carelessly.
Meanwhile, on a different occasion, Malang Mayor Sutiaji said he was furious at the large amount of rubbish found by officers in the water channels.
"I think we have given countless socialization and publications related to it. But we still find unwise behavior like that. Even more surprising, yesterday we also found dead livestock (cows) that were thrown away or thrown into the river," said Sutiaji.
So how complicated the problem is in Malang City. Therefore, the Garbage and Sediment Transport Movement (GASS) which will be inaugurated is expected to be a shared momentum to build a clean, wise, and orderly culture towards the environment.
"Of course, so that this movement becomes a massive energy. I appeal that it will become a routine, a culture. We will strengthen it with strict sanctions for those who act unwisely towards the environment," explained Sutiaji.
GASS itself will be driven simultaneously in five sub-districts in Malang City, namely Klojen, Lowokwaru, Blimbing, Sukun, and Kedungkandang Sub-districts. Where the activity will involve various elements in Malang City. (public relations/ram/yon)
