(malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, inspected the victims of a house fire in the Kebalen Wetan Gang 8 RT 10 RW 01 area, Kotalama Village, Kedungkandang District, Malang City, Friday (20/12/2019).
Malang Mayor Sutiaji, who was accompanied by Kedungkandang Sub-district Head Drs. R. Achmad Mabrur, went straight to the residence of Sholeh Ilzam, the owner of the house that caught fire.
"According to the homeowner, the fire occurred due to an electrical short circuit and destroyed two houses belonging to Mr. Sholeh," explained Sutiaji.
Sutiaji advised the public to remain vigilant against disasters that could occur at any time, especially now that the rainy season has arrived.
"I also thank the community who have helped each other and are very responsive in immediately extinguishing the fire so that it does not spread further. I hope that sense of togetherness will be further enhanced in the future," he said.
On that occasion, Sutiaji also said that he had instructed the sub-district heads and village heads to immediately coordinate with the Malang City Baznas so that they could provide assistance to the fire victims.
"We can use the funds managed by Baznas to help people who are experiencing difficulties like this," he said.
As a result of the incident, the roof of the house and the contents of the house's furniture were burned and it is estimated that the loss was around one hundred million rupiah. (Ts/yon)
