Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Building a clean and environmentally friendly culture by involving community participation, the Malang City Government through the Environmental Service (DLH) launched the Garbage and Sediment Lifting Movement (GASS) on Jalan Panggung, Malang City, Friday (27/12/2019). This movement is also to overcome the problem of garbage and anticipate flooding or waterlogging caused by clogged water channels.

GASS was inaugurated directly by the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji and attended by all State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the Malang City Government. After inaugurating GASS, the Mayor of Malang immediately led the movement to lift garbage and sediment in several locations.
Among them are Jalan Panggung, Jalan Raya Langsep, Pertigaan Gajayana, Jalan Letjen S. Parman, Jembatan Gadang to Pasar Gadang. The Mayor of Malang did not hesitate to go directly to clean up the garbage in the river.
Sutiaji said that the garbage and sediment collection (GASS) activity was a moment of togetherness to overcome the garbage problem in Malang City. Because even though there have been countless socializations and publications on garbage handling, the results are still far from expectations.
"We hope that this activity can raise the community's enthusiasm to tackle waste in Malang City," explained Sutiaji.
Through this activity, Sutiaji hopes to build a clean and wise culture towards the environment. In addition, it can be a great energy in building a culture of environmental love. (cah/ram/yon)
