Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Various efforts have been made by the Malang City Government to prevent and reduce the occurrence of flooding, especially during the rainy season like now. After initiating the Garbage and Sediment Removal Movement (GASS) program, now the injection well construction movement has also been initiated.

State Civil Apparatus (ASN) including sub-district heads and village heads received education regarding the construction of injection wells in the yard of the Malang City Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Residential Areas Service (DPUPRPKP) Office, Tuesday (28/01/2020).
Inviting academics who specialize in flood management, these injection wells will be made in several points that become areas of waterlogging when it rains and trigger flooding. Of the 57 existing sub-districts, each sub-district is required to make ten to 15 injection wells, so that when it rains there will be no more waterlogging or overflowing rainwater that triggers flooding.
Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko said, from this injection well is targeted to reduce the occurrence of flooding. The construction of this well is also instructed in residential areas and housing areas so that flood prevention efforts are more massive. To make one injection well, a budget of around seven to ten million rupiah is needed, depending on the size and depth of the well.
For the budget for making injection wells in each sub-district, the man who is familiarly called Bung Edi explained that it is attached to each sub-district where the DPUPRPKP will help in terms of human resources for digging the wells. "Making this well is very easy, where only circular concrete with a certain diameter is needed which is planted in the ground," he said.
With the construction of this injection well and good community participation, the bespectacled man hopes that waterlogging or flooding will no longer hit Malang City, especially when it rains with moderate to high intensity.
On the other hand, with the entry of water into the ground, it will also have an impact on the cold temperature or can lower the air temperature. "Thus, residents will feel comfortable and fertilize the soil more," concluded Bung Edi. (say/yon)
