As per the regulations set by the 1 League 2020 operator, the team that will compete must have four foreign players and one of them is from Asia.
Three foreign players were introduced by the management of the team with the Lion's Head logo, Thursday (30/01/2020) at The Lion's Cage (Arema FC Office) which is located on Jl Mayjend Panjaitan. The three of them come from Latin America, namely Elias Patricio Alderete from Argentina who plays as a striker, Jonathan Jesus Bauman from Argentina as a midfielder, second striker and Matias Daniel Malvio from Uruguay as a center back.
Arema FC General Manager, Rudi Widodo said that the three players were in accordance with the recommendations of the head coach, Mario Gomez. According to him, ahead of the 1 League 2020 season, the management team has indeed given great trust to the head coach to determine the players. This is also inseparable from the target of the Arema FC team to become champions in the 2020 competition season.
The negotiation process until the transfer of the three players, said Rudi, was not difficult because they had previously known Mario Gomez, so there were no obstacles until the contract signing process. The three new players also admitted that they would work hard and give their best for the team, management and loyal supporters so that what is the target of Arema FC can be realized.
Previously, Arema FC has also recruited and introduced one foreign player from South Korea to fulfill the quota of players from Asia, namely Oh In Kyun who plays as an attacking midfielder. The former Persib Bandung player also admitted that he was happy to be able to wear the Arema FC uniform and would be optimistic that he could realize the team's big dream.
Meanwhile, seven local players who are not more than 23 years old, according to the league operator's regulations, in this team have been fulfilled six and leave one more player.
