Malang City Inflation Rate Below East Java Province

Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The inflation rate in Malang City during January 2020 was influenced by various factors. However, the largest contributor came from the food, beverage and tobacco group, where the inflation rate was at 0,41 percent.

The figure comes from the release of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Malang City, Monday (03/02/2020) which was conveyed by Sunaryo as the Head of BPS Malang City at his office. However, Sunaryo said that the amount of inflation in Malang City was lower when compared to the inflation of East Java Province which was at 0,50 percent.

Sunaryo further said that of the 11 expenditure groups, the highest increase was in the food, beverage and tobacco group, which experienced an increase of 1,54 percent and contributed to inflation of 0,33 percent.

In addition to the food, beverage and tobacco expenditure group, he said an increase also occurred in the clothing and footwear group by 0,09 percent, and housing, water, electricity and other fuels by 0,31 percent.

"The expenditure groups that also experienced an increase were the health sector by 0,13 percent, the provision of food and beverages or restaurants rose by 0,05 percent, and personal care and other services rose by 0,53 percent," added Sunaryo.

However, he explained, there were two groups that experienced a decline, namely household equipment, tools and routine maintenance, down by 0,17 percent, and the transportation group by 0,14 percent.

On the other hand, there are groups that did not experience an increase or were the same as the previous month, namely spending on information, communication, and financial services, recreation, sports, and culture, and education. (say/yon)
