Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – Following up on complaints from the public regarding traffic congestion around the Sukarno-Hatta Bridge (Suhat), the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, accompanied by the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency, inspected the field, Monday (3/2/2020).
Also present with the Mayor of Malang at this activity were the Malang City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Pol. Leonardus H. Simarmata and the Commander of the 0833 Malang City Military District, Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Tommy Anderson along with the ranks of the Malang City Traffic Forum and Prof. Bisri as an environmental observer and Professor at Brawijaya University, Malang.
According to the Mayor of Malang, traffic conditions in Suhat, especially around the bridge and apartments require special attention from various parties. "One of them is from the rectors, especially in universities whose students access this road a lot. We hope that we can hold a coordination meeting as soon as possible to discuss this problem," he said.
He also added that the Malang City Government will ask the rectors to postpone their lecture hours, which are usually the first hour at 07.00 WIB, so we ask that it be postponed to 09.00 WIB.
"It is also possible that we will regulate the entry hours for office institutions, especially services in the Malang City Government, so that there is no buildup of people coming," he added.
In the future, the Mayor of Malang, a badminton enthusiast, will also collaborate with academics and transportation experts to analyze whether building an underpass is a solution to solving traffic congestion in the area.
"We will continue to improve the coordination between the Malang City Government, Malang City Police and the Malang City Kodim 0833 to solve this problem," he said. (Ts/yon)
