Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – Like other big cities, Malang City is also still trying hard to overcome traffic congestion, especially during rush hours, namely in the morning and evening. The cause of this traffic congestion is suspected to be triggered by the increasing number of motorized vehicles but inadequate road facilities.
In response to this condition, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, together with the ranks of the Malang City Forkopimda and academics, conducted an inspection of the congestion points on Jl. Soekarno-Hatta (Soehat), Jl. Mayjen Panjaitan and on Jl. MT Haryono, Monday (03/02/2020). In addition to observing the level of traffic density, a number of these parties also discussed and sought a way out to reduce traffic congestion.
After the inspection, the Mayor of Malang planned to widen the road at several points, especially at bends or intersections and if possible, move the fences of universities that intersect with public roads, such as in the area of Brawijaya University and Malang State Polytechnic so that the road is wider. Therefore, the leaders of campuses affected by the traffic jam were invited to discuss to find the best solution.
So far, to reduce or unravel congestion, the Traffic Forum together with related ranks have conducted traffic engineering and placed a number of officers in areas that are congestion points. "In addition, vehicle owners are also advised and prohibited from parking in random places until taking action against the perpetrators of the violations, because it can trigger traffic congestion," he added.
The man with glasses also discussed building underpass and will conduct further and in-depth studies with various parties, especially with academics and traffic experts. "However, various aspects and impacts that arise will be the main considerations and priorities, so that they do not cause new problems later.
Another program to reduce traffic congestion, the Mayor of Malang also plans to rearrange the office hours, especially for ASN, students and a number of schools. Thus, in the morning and evening there will be no traffic congestion at a number of points. "We will first review everything with the relevant parties, and it is indeed not easy to realize, but we will try," he concluded. (say/yon)
