From the incident, according to the Mayor of Malang, it not only affected the victim, but also other parties such as the Education Office who were targeted by the public who viewed the incident as something that should not have happened in Malang City. "Malang City has been nicknamed a child-friendly city, but unpleasant incidents still occur, and we deeply regret that," he said.

The bespectacled man also invited all elements of society to make the incident a valuable lesson and not let it happen again. "All parties are responsible, and let's monitor our education world together in the future. Society and school elements must have the same vision, which is to create a quality education world," added Sutiaji.

The students who attended the musrenbang were also invited and encouraged to be brave and honest, and to convey various things that felt uncomfortable in their school environment. He said that the bullying incident that made him uncomfortable initially occurred because of one of the reasons being that there was different information between the students, the school and the Education Office.

"I have taken firm action by giving a six-month sanction to the Head of the Education Office to improve his performance, deactivating the principal and his deputy, where the victim of bullying is studying. We also hope that the community can accept that and this incident will end soon," Sutiaji continued.

From this incident, he explained, the Malang City Government will immediately ratify special regulations in the form of regional regulations (Perda) on complaint mechanisms that will accommodate and protect children when they face a problem, especially at the school where they study.

"We will try our best to prevent unpleasant incidents from happening again, especially in educational institutions. We really need support and input from various parties to make this happen," Sutiaji said. (say/yon)
