Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Various strategic steps have been taken by the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (DPUPRPKP) of Malang City as a form of the seriousness of the Malang City Government in following up on the many damaged and potholed roads in Malang City.

Head of DPUPRPKP Malang City, Ir. Hadi Santoso revealed that the pothole that claimed the victim on Jalan Panji Suroso was not the authority of the Malang City Government, because the status of the road is the authority of the Central Government through the National Road Center. However, the Malang City Government has coordinated with the National Road Center to repair the damaged road.
"The Malang City Government cannot directly patch the damaged road on Jalan Panji Suroso, because that is the authority of the Central Government. We have coordinated," explained Sony, the nickname of Ir. Hadi Santoso, Tuesday (10/3/2020)
Sony admitted that currently it is not only Jalan Panji Suroso that has holes. However, in various areas in Malang City there are also many potholes that need to be addressed. "Including potholes in the Madyopuro and Cemorokandang areas," explained Sony.
He added that to do permanent patching cannot be done just like that, but there is a mechanism that must be passed. Among them is the auction mechanism. "There are at least 80 potholes in Malang City that are currently being auctioned for handling," added Sony.
While waiting for the auction and permanent work, emergency handling is carried out first. Where for potholes such as in Madyopuro, Cemorokandang are filled with solid material so as not to endanger motorists on the road.
Meanwhile, Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said, before claiming victims, the damage to Jalan Panjo Suroso was first reported to the National Road Agency, because the Jalan Panji Suroso area is indeed the responsibility of the Central Government. "When the incident happened, we also immediately coordinated. Today it was immediately fixed," said Sutiaji. (cah/ram/yon)
