Malang City Transportation Agency Controls Unlicensed Parking

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Several crowded places such as in the college area, malls and markets in Malang city are often used as illegal or unlicensed parking lots. Public complaints have also emerged, especially through social media, because they are uncomfortable and are one of the causes of traffic congestion.

Joint operation to regulate parking in the Jl. Veteran area

In response to these issues, the Malang City Transportation Agency together with the TNI-Polri and Satpol PP of Malang City, Wednesday (11/03/2020) held a joint operation. In several places such as around Jl. Veteran, Jl. MT Haryono and Jl. Gajayana became the targets of the joint operation. Officers imposed sanctions and carried out control by deflating motorcycle tires and calling parking attendants to obey the rules.

Head of Parking Management Division of Malang City Transportation Agency, Musthaqim Jaya, AP, MM said that parking should not be done on the roadside and on the sidewalk because it will disturb the public's comfort. "In addition, it will also trigger traffic congestion, especially in areas with dense traffic," he said.

From this joint operation, not only were parking violations found but it was also suspected that there were irresponsible individuals who triggered illegal and unlicensed parking. The Transportation Agency will also investigate thoroughly and will impose sanctions if this is proven.

"The action will harm many parties, because before this operation was held, the Transportation Agency had often conducted socialization to minor criminal acts for parking attendants who were proven to be parking illegally. So now we are taking firm action," explained Musthaqim.

To suppress the rampant illegal parking, the Transportation Agency appealed to the public to be more vigilant. Such as by asking for official tickets issued by the Malang City Government when parking their vehicles anywhere.

If there are fake tickets, Musthaqim explained, it will harm the local government and motorcycle owners, because if their vehicles are lost, it is difficult to be held responsible for replacing them. (say/yon)
