Mayor of Malang Inaugurates Kartini Anggrek School

Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) - Starting 2020, the Social Service, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinsos-P3AP2KB) of Malang City has a program of activities as a form of increasing women's empowerment in Malang City, namely the Kartini School. The name was chosen with the spirit of strengthening attitudes of appreciation for the values ​​of diversity, nationality and Indonesianness.

Kartini Anggrek School, Sukun District, Malang City was inaugurated by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji in the hall of the Sukun District Office, Saturday (14/3/2020). Also present at the inauguration were the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP Widayati, S.Sos, MM and Deputy Chairperson I of the Malang City PKK TP Elly Estiningtyas.

Head of the Malang City Social Service-P3AP2KB Dra. Penny Indriani, MM, Saturday (14/03/2020) revealed that Kartini School is one of the models of women's empowerment that uses educational strategies to develop the leadership of marginalized women.

"Through this forum, women from the grassroots develop critical awareness, life skills, solidarity, and commitment to make changes towards an equal, gender-just and inclusive society," added the woman in the hijab.

The implementation of the women's empowerment program through the Kartini School activities, said Penny, is divided into two classes consisting of four study groups with the number of participants in one class being 20 people.

"So that this school also realizes the commitment to help provide protection to women and children from exploitation, neglect, mistreatment, physical, psychological and sexual violence, gender discrimination, and those who require other special protection," he explained.

Penny further said, with the presence of Kartini School, it will also increase the capacity of mothers in managing households and educating children, so that they become independent families and are able to get out of the social and economic problems they face. "No less important, it is also to build family and community resilience to achieve prosperity," he concluded. (say/yon)
