Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, provided clarification regarding the circulation of information about lockdown or closing access in or out of Malang City. In his clarification there is no policy to close access in and out of Malang City.
What exists is limiting and postponing, and rescheduling for guests who will visit the Malang City Government. Including the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Malang City Government who will be on duty outside (official duties), temporarily postponed and rescheduled. The policy was enforced for 14 days since it was declared by the Mayor of Malang at the Malang City Hall, Monday (16/03/2020).
"We certainly don't want to linger in conditions like this. However, this step is also part of responding to the central government's policy. I need to emphasize again that there is no policy lockdown for Malang City. What we are regulating is postponing or rescheduling guest visits to Malang City Government, and for ASN Malang City Government postponing official activities outside the region," said Sutiaji.
Sutiaji added, there is no authority of the regional head to close access. So it is impossible for the Malang City Government to do it. The obligation of the Malang City Government is to provide a sense of comfort, security, and peace to residents.
"Therefore, what we do is control the movement of people. For that, we also ask the lodging and hotel business actors to also monitor the movement of their guests. So that from the beginning it can be known where they come from," continued Sutiaji.
This is certainly a mitigation step. And the main thing is the provision hand sanitizers and conduct body temperature control of visitors, as well as socialization of washing hands with soap. (public relations/ram/yon)
