Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – As in other districts and cities, users of train transportation passing through Malang's Kota Baru Station have experienced a significant decline due to the impact of the corona virus pandemic (Covid-19). In the last few days, passengers who will travel to several areas from previously reaching 5.700 people every day, are now only between 3.000 and 4.000 people.

Acting Head of Malang New Station, Mochammad Nur Ghozuli, Saturday (21/03/2020) said that the decrease in passengers of around 40 percent was considered normal considering the conditions in the area which is currently experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, residents are indeed reducing and even postponing trips out of town so as not to be infected with the dangerous virus.
However, Ghozuli said the station will continue to provide maximum service for residents who are urgent and have to travel out of town. On the other hand, at this station (Kota Baru) various concrete steps have also been taken to help suppress the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Such as providing a place to wash hands and providing hand sanitizer services at every entrance and exit of the station.
The chairs in the waiting room in front and inside the station are also spaced out by giving special marks on the seats. Previously, this station has also been sprayed with disinfectant in all parts, such as the seats, waiting room, and officer's work area.
Prospective passengers are also advised to always wear masks or mouth coverings so that they are not easily infected with the virus. "We have carried out our duties according to the direction of our superiors, so it is hoped that what we do can be a positive solution amidst the condition of this nation being hit by an epidemic," added Ghozuli.
The ranks of station officers have not been able to predict how long the number of passengers will decrease, because it is related to the situation of this nation which is currently being hit by an outbreak of a contagious and dangerous virus. Not only appealing to prospective train passengers, the ranks of officers at this station are also always on standby by implementing government regulations.
"Our officers always wear masks, maintain distance between each other and always coordinate with health workers and the local covid 19 alert task force to anticipate various things that can happen at any time," concluded Ghozuli. (say/yon)
