Arriving from China, 18 Indonesian Air Force Soldiers Quarantined

Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The arrival of 18 Indonesian Air Force soldiers at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base Malang, Monday (23/03/2020) was greeted with joy by colleagues and family members. While holding and waving mini Red and White flags, they also called every soldier who got off the plane and gave their congratulations.

Indonesian Air Force soldiers who have just arrived from a humanitarian mission to collect medical equipment in Shanghai, China are sterilized before undergoing quarantine.

These soldiers, previously carried out a state duty to take medical equipment and medicines from Shanghai, China to handle the corona virus pandemic (Covid-19) that is currently spreading in the country. All medical equipment and medicines were unloaded at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport in Jakarta, then the plane from the TNI AU personnel returned to Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang.

After getting off the Hercules A-1333 plane, these soldiers were immediately sterilized by being sprayed with disinfectant and having their body temperature checked by health workers. Not only the soldiers, the plane they were using was also sprayed with a similar liquid as an effort to anticipate various possibilities. After being sterilized, these soldiers were transported by special ambulance to the quarantine location.

Commander of Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base Malang, Air Marshal Hesly Paat said that the Indonesian Air Force soldiers, after being sterilized and having their body temperatures checked, will immediately undergo quarantine for the next 14 days.

"This step is in accordance with applicable rules or protocols, so that various possibilities related to Covid-19 can be minimized," he added.

Furthermore, Danlanud said that his party will always be on standby and ready if at any time needed again in carrying out state missions, especially related to the Covid-19 outbreak. In addition to medical personnel and hospitals, soldiers and aircraft have also been put on standby.

"And for this assignment or mission, we also express our gratitude to all parties who have given prayers and motivation to the Indonesian Air Force soldiers on duty, so that they can return in good condition," he concluded. (say/yon)
