UMM Peduli Distributes Basic Food Packages

Malang (malangkota.go.id) – University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), distributed approximately 2.000 basic food packages to the community in the UMM Campus I, II and III environment, Wednesday (22/4). The coordinator of basic food procurement and distribution, Hasim, A.Md said that UMM actively participates in helping the community to overcome the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the first stage, the distribution of basic food packages was carried out at the BAU Auditorium with health protocols that comply with government standards. "As a form of our social responsibility under the auspices of Muhammadiyah, this activity is expected to ease the burden on people affected by Covid-19," explained Hasim.

The targets for distributing these basic food packages include parking attendants and officers. cleaning services, UMM retirees in need, public transportation drivers, especially residents and students who live around the UMM environment who are in need.

"Today we distributed 600 packages to representatives of beneficiary groups. The rest will be distributed to several locations such as Tlogomas, Tegalgondo, Mulyoagung, Sumber Sari and several other areas around the three UMM campuses," said Hasim.

In line with Hasim, the person in charge of distributing the basic food packages, Rahmat Pulung Sudibyo, SP, MP said that the total basic food packages will be distributed in four batches during the month of Ramadan. This distribution model is made referring to the health protocol scheme.

"The distribution of basic necessities is divided into four batches with the aim of avoiding crowds or accumulation of residents receiving basic necessities packages," added Pulung.

Not only distributing to residents, UMM Peduli has also prepared a basic food package distribution scheme for UMM students who still live in Malang.

"These basic food packages will not only be distributed to residents affected by the pandemic, but also to UMM students who are still in Malang," added Pulung.

The distribution of the first batch of basic food packages was given to cleaning services who are daily workers in the UMM environment. One of the recipients of the distribution of basic food packages, Humairah Luthfiah said that this activity was very helpful in the midst of an unstable economy due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Personally, I am very grateful for this UMM Peduli program. It really helps my economy as one of the people affected by this," he explained. (UMM/say/yon)
