Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – After directly going down and checking the distribution of the first phase of Cash Social Assistance (BST) from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) to Malang City residents at the Malang Main Post Office a few days ago, the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji also did the same thing at the Arjowinangun and Kedungkandang Village Offices, Saturday (09/05/2020). This effort is to ensure that the distribution of social assistance is right on target and received by those who are entitled.

In addition, the bespectacled man appealed to officers to check the data of social assistance recipients selectively. This refers to the distribution of social assistance at the Malang Main Post Office which was detected to have duplicate data. At that time, the assistance had not been handed over, because officers detected it earlier when checking the identity of prospective aid recipients.
Officers, such as from the Population and Civil Registry Office, sub-districts and inspectorates, Sutiaji explained, must indeed conduct extra screening of recipient data before assistance is distributed. "Thus, assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs is distributed evenly and according to valid data," he added.
What officers also need to pay attention to, said Sutiaji, is the authenticity of residents' data or documents. This is to anticipate identity forgery that can be carried out by irresponsible individuals. "What we focus on is not just the value or amount of assistance, but also the authenticity and completeness of the documents. Because this can disrupt the system," said Sutiaji.
For information, in Malang City there are around 41 thousand residents who receive social assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs. The value is IDR 600 thousand per month and will be received by residents who are entitled to receive it for three months. "With accurate data, it will also avoid overlapping distribution and receipt of assistance. Because apart from the Ministry of Social Affairs, there is also distribution of assistance from the East Java Provincial Government and the Malang City Government," he explained.
When conducting checks like this, Mayor Sutiaji also emphasized the implementation of prevention protocols against various things that can trigger the spread of Covid-19. "Residents and officers must wear masks, maintain a safe distance, wash their hands before and after activities, and check their body temperature," he explained. (say/yon)
