"We are re-operating regular medium/long distance train trips as KAI's commitment to serve the public who want to travel out of town by train," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Suprapto, Thursday (11/06/2020)
Suprapto emphasized that the re-operation of Regular Trains will still be followed by strict Covid-19 prevention protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 through rail transportation.
The return journey of the regular train refers to the Circular of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19 No. 7 of 2020 concerning the Criteria and Requirements for Travel of People in the New Habit Adaptation Period Towards a Productive and Covid-19 Safe Society and the Circular of the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation No. 14 of 2020 dated June 8, 2020 concerning Guidelines and Technical Instructions for Controlling Railway Transportation in the New Habit Adaptation Period to Prevent the Spread of Covid-19.
“Tickets can be ordered online via the KAI Access application and online channel others starting D-7 of the train's departure. Meanwhile, ticket sales at the station counter are served starting three hours before the train's departure schedule," said Suprapto.
In the initial stage, KAI only sells tickets for 70% of the available seating capacity. The goal is to maintain distance between passengers during the trip. Especially for passengers over 50 years old, officers will arrange their seats during the trip so that they are not adjacent to other passengers.
Suprapto explained that specifically for medium/long distance train journeys, passengers are required to wear faceshield provided by KAI during the trip until leaving the destination station area. Prospective Medium/Long Distance Train passengers are also required to complete the requirements according to the Covid-19 Task Force Circular Letter No. 7 of 2020. These files must be shown to the officer when boarding.
The provisions are as follows:
- Show a PCR test certificate with negative results that is valid for seven days or a test certificate Rapid Test with non-reactive results valid for 3 days upon departure,
- Show a certificate stating that you are free from symptoms such as influenza (influenza-like illness) issued by a hospital/health center doctor for areas that do not have PCR test facilities and/or Rapid Test.
- Download and activate the Peduli Lindungi application on your mobile device.
In general, every long-distance and local train passenger is required to be in good health (not suffering from flu, colds, coughs, fever), body temperature not more than 37,3 degrees Celsius, must wear a mask, and wear long-sleeved clothing or a jacket.
"If during the process boarding "Passengers who are found not to meet these requirements will not be permitted to travel and tickets can be cancelled with a full refund," Suprapto added.
"KAI has only operated part of the Regular Train journey considering the implementation of PSBB in various regions and public demand. We will continue to evaluate the progress of the resumption of regular train operations," said Suprapto.
