Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – In addition to Malang Regency and Batu City, in Malang City, cases of Covid-19 transmission are increasing every day. After entering the red zone again a few days ago, the Malang City Covid-19 Task Force together with related ranks have been intensively carrying out joint operations which are also an effort to enforce the rules for implementing health protocols. Such as mask-wearing operations, crowd dispersal and random rapid tests.

The joint operation held on Tuesday night (07/07/2020) targeting a cafe on Jl. Kendalsari was different from previous joint operations. Cafe visitors who were detected reactive after a rapid test were immediately swab tested. Of the 143 cafe visitors, employees and managers, three visitors were detected reactive and immediately underwent a swab test.
After undergoing the test, the three were immediately taken by Covid-19 Task Force personnel with TNI-Polri personnel escort to the isolation area or save house prepared by the Malang City Government while waiting for the results of the swab test at the training center located on Jl. Kawi to be quarantined. The three people will receive intensive supervision and care, including herbal therapy from officers.
Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji who is also the Head of the Malang City Covid-19 Task Force said that if the reactive residents are classified as asymptomatic (OTG), where cases like this dominate Covid-19 cases in Malang City.
"This kind of step is claimed to be more effective in anticipating various possibilities. Because there was an incident, residents who were detected reactive after a rapid test and were required to self-quarantine at home, turned out to still be free to do activities," he said.
Such incidents, said the Mayor of Malang, are very dangerous because after a few days after the swab test and the results are positive, the person has spread the virus everywhere. "Cases like this are what trigger the continued increase in Covid-19 cases, starting from patients under surveillance, positive patients to those who died," he added.
"From such cases, Malang City finally returned to the red zone, after previously being in the orange zone in the middle of the transition period of the new normal era. Holding a joint operation like this is a form of our concern for the residents and as proof that the government is present in the community during an outbreak," said the bespectacled man.
When conducting joint operations, the Malang City Covid-19 Task Force targeted crowded places and those that ignored the implementation of health protocols. Such as in cafes, where many visitors do not wear masks, there are no places to wash hands and do not regulate safe distances.
Due to this incident, after the rapid test and swab test, all areas of the cafe were sprayed with disinfectant liquid. Sutiaji also ordered the cafe to be closed until an unspecified time, and if it still violates, its permit is threatened to be revoked.
"We will not play around and will give strict sanctions to anyone who ignores and is not disciplined in implementing health protocols. On the other hand, a number of hospitals in several areas, including in Malang City that treat Covid-19 patients are starting to fill up," he concluded. (say/yon)
