Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The East Java Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) presented the 2020 PWI East Java Award in the category Prime Achievement to KH. Hasyim Muzadi (deceased), Founder of the Al-Hikam Student Islamic Boarding School, Malang City. PWI East Java assessed that the spirit of struggle of the former General Chairman of PBNU was very great towards a strong national commitment and its diversity.
The caretaker of Pesma Al-Hikam also has concern and closeness with media people, both when leading NU in East Java to when leading PBNU in Jakarta. The 2020 PWI Jatim Award was presented by the Chairperson of PWI Jatim Ainur Rohim to the Chairperson of the Alhikam Foundation, Gus Hakim Hidayat at Pesma Al Hikam, Malang City, Wednesday (08/07/2020).
"We give this award as a form of extraordinary appreciation to the late KH Hasyim Muzadi with his spirit of diversity and nationality. He was also very close to fellow journalists, both in East Java and at the national level," said Ainur Rohim accompanied by several PWI East Java administrators and the Head of PWI Malang Raya, M. Ariful Huda.
The former Memorandum journalist also recalled the struggle of KH Hasyim Muzadi when he led PWNU Jatim which was very close to journalists. His broad thoughts added to the knowledge of journalists who often covered or interviewed him.
"Whenever he has time, he will accept journalist interviews. After that, there is usually a casual dialogue while drinking coffee. His thoughts on nationality are very broad, especially his religious thoughts," he said.
He added that the PWI Jatim Award 2020 is routinely given by PWI Jatim during National Press Day (HPN). This year there are 18 regional and national figures who received the PWI Jatim Award. Initially, the award would be given at the peak of the HPN commemoration, only during the Covid-19 pandemic all plans were canceled.
"Finally, we came directly to each figure to convey this award. In addition to KH Hasyim Muzadi, the 2020 PWI East Java Award was also given to Dr (HC) Ir. KH. Salahudin Wahid (deceased), Caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang and other figures," added Ainur.
KH Hasyim Muzadi's son, Gus Hakim Hidayat expressed his gratitude for the 2020 PWI East Java Award given to KH Hasyim Muzadi. In addition to being an appreciation for his fighting spirit, it is also a form of recognition for KH Hasyim Muzadi.
