Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Since it was formed on April 28 2020, the Covid-19 corpse handling team formed by the Malang City Police has buried around 70 bodies.. The team consisting of six police personnel is very active, namely when starting the initial process of taking the body from the hospital to the burial site.
Of all that, the team under the coordination of Kompol Sutiono is certainly at high risk and vulnerable to being exposed to Covid-19. Not only from the bodies but also from medical personnel who are vulnerable to being exposed to the virus, so every two weeks all the funeral teams are required to undergo a rapid test (rapid test). This is to anticipate and to ensure whether any team members are exposed to the virus or not.
Given the increasing activity of this team, on Monday afternoon (13/07/2020) all members of the search team were required to undergo a swab test at the Malang City Police Headquarters hall. In the results of the first swab test carried out, no team members were detected as reactive or positive or exposed to Covid-19.
Going forward, Kompol Sutiono said after taking the swab test, in addition to the rapid test every two weeks, swab tests like this will be held routinely, at least once a month. "M"Even though the swab test results did not find any positive team members, every police personnel should remain vigilant and strictly implement health protocols, especially when on duty burying positive Covid-19 patients," he added.
"In addition to using personal protective equipment safely, these team members must also consume nutritious food, vitamins and get enough rest, so that their immune system is maintained. Thus, they will not be easily exposed to the virus," continued Kompol Sutiono.
The Covid-19 funeral team recently received appreciation from the East Java Regional Police Chief and also the National Police Chief General Idham Aziz for their consistency, dedication and for carrying out their duties well. The reason is, it is not uncommon for this funeral team to take advantage of their sleeping time, even for a few minutes, at the cemetery. (say/yon)
