Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The government is taking concrete steps to suppress the increase in Covid-19 cases, such as by continuing to campaign for disciplined use of masks. This is considering the many cases exposed community members Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19), including in Malang City.

The program initiated by President Joko Widodo through the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs will be held on August 7, 2020 with a number of cities and districts appointed as the implementers. In this regard, Malang City is one of the cities trusted to campaign for disciplined use of cloth masks. Later, 1,5 million cloth masks will be distributed to the community.
In response to this, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, immediately held a coordination meeting with his staff and invited business actors and banking circles to the Malang City Hall Meeting Room, Tuesday (05/08/2020). On this occasion, the Mayor of Malang invited various parties to donate cloth masks and distribute them together on August 7, 2020.
An important note in this program is that the procurement of cloth masks is prohibited from using APBD funds so it must be done independently. From the results of the coordination meeting, the Mayor of Malang initiated his donation and will prepare 10 thousand cloth masks which will then be followed by the Deputy Mayor of Malang. In addition, the Regional Secretary of Malang City Drs. Wasto, SH, MH is also ready to donate five thousand masks, from OJK 25 thousand masks and the Eng An Kiong Temple foundation 10 thousand masks.
Each regional apparatus head also stated that they are ready to donate 1.000 masks so that later around 100 thousand masks will be collected. One of the cigarette companies and textile companies are each willing to donate 50 thousand masks. Later, it will be followed by hotel, restaurant, mall and university managers, so that collecting 1,5 million masks will be realized properly.
Through this campaign and distribution of masks, the Mayor of Malang said that there is a message for all levels of society in an effort to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19. According to him, by being disciplined in using masks, especially when doing activities outside the home will reduce the risk of virus transmission. "Thus, it will automatically reduce the continued spread of the Covid-19 outbreak," he concluded. (say/yon)
