Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Although the global Covid-19 pandemic has not yet ended when Indonesia commemorates its 75th Independence Day, it should not be a trigger for the decline in the spirit and sense of Nationalism. On the contrary, the current pandemic should pump up the spirit to continue to advance and achieve in various fields. If in 1945 the fighters fought the invaders, then this time the Indonesian people and even the world must fight against the plague.

Fighting in times like these can also be said to be fighting with oneself, such as limiting or reducing various pleasures, because we have to implement health protocols. Before the outbreak, we were not required to wear masks and keep our distance, but now it is the opposite.
That was the emphasis conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, after the Commemoration Ceremony of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence in the yard of Malang City Hall, Monday (17/08/2020). The values of struggle and struggle of the heroes, said the bespectacled man, must continue to be instilled and ignited in each individual, so that what the founders of this nation aspired to can be realized properly.
Every individual, Sutiaji added, must be able to be an example for other citizens in implementing the values of the struggle. "The momentum of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day must be a moment of awakening for all of us, and there should be no barriers in the name of religion, democracy, prosperity or others, so that Indonesia can be more advanced and develop," he said.
"The values of struggle and struggle must be embedded, so that all elements of society can work without limits and innovate even in an epidemic. If the epidemic is used as an obstacle, it will also have an impact on slowing down the wheels of the economy, both in the regions and nationally," continued Sutiaji.
He said that this outbreak has indeed had an impact on all sectors of life. However, if we are complacent and do not want to rise, then the condition of this nation will worsen. "The progress of the nation and the revival of the economy are very much determined by the productivity and courage and mutual cooperation of various elements of the nation," concluded Sutiaji.
