Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) held a Traditional Arts and New Creations Performance (Malang Culture 2020) at the East Java Cultural Park on Jl. Soekarno Hatta Malang, Tuesday (18/8/2020). The performance, which was held virtually, was attended and opened by the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji.

Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office, Dra. Zubaidah, MM revealed that this virtual event carries the title 'Ojo Talking Waton, Talking Nganggo Waton'. This means never just talk, but talk according to the correct sources and facts.
"We hope that this activity can be a good educational event for students and the community so that they are clear in digesting information and providing information," hoped Zubaidah, Tuesday (18/8).
He added that this performance was held as a form of government presence, as well as a place to channel the talents of sons and daughters and artists. In addition, it is also an effort by the government to preserve local culture in Malang City.
Similarly, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, in his speech expressed his deep appreciation for the activities held by the Malang City Education and Culture Office, which he said was a very good event to educate students to become a smart, honest and responsible generation. "The implicit message of the virtual drama 'ojo talk waton, talk ojo nganggo waton' is that we must always be honest," said Sutiaji.
In terms of theme, Sutiaji said it was very good because it raised a folk tale that was excavated from the art and culture of Malang City, namely telling the story of Joko Lulo and Ken Dedes. The adaptation of this story is how honesty should be upheld. That someone is seen as having high knowledge and is famous for his knowledge, then he will increasingly understand his own limits that do not like to exaggerate. (cah/yon)
