Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – In the last six months, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the East Java II Regional Office has successfully carried out 59 actions against criminal acts that violate customs and excise regulations. The results of these actions were followed by the destruction of goods resulting from crimes worth Rp3 billion, Tuesday (25/08/2020) with a potential state loss that could be saved of Rp2 billion.

The destruction carried out in the yard of the Malang Type Madya Excise Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC) was dominated by cigarettes with illegal excise and cigarettes without excise. This destruction was also followed virtually by a number of Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Offices under the DJBC East Java II Regional Office, such as Blitar, Probolinggo, Jember, Madiun and Banyuwangi. The goods destroyed included 4.813.523 cigarettes, 324.385 grams of sliced tobacco, 4.382 liters of liquor, 364 pieces of excise stamps and 111 illegal goods sent via a shipping company.
Head of DJBC East Java II Regional Office, Oentarto Wibowo said that through the Gempur illegal cigarette operation, his party will continue to intensify its operations. To be more massive, the Customs and Excise Office also strengthens synergy with the TNI-Polri and local governments. This is considering the Ministry of Finance which has given a target that one percent of the 300 billion illegal cigarettes produced in one year can be destroyed or their distribution prevented.
In addition, he said, the DJBC Regional Office of East Java III this year is targeted to earn revenue of IDR 39 trillion. "To realize this, the active role of the local government is very large, because if the revenue from the customs sector is high, the local government will also receive high excise revenue sharing funds. Like this year, the East Java Provincial Government received an allocation of IDR 1,6 trillion which was also allocated for handling Covid-19," explained Oentarto.
Not only for East Java, he said that the income from the customs also supports the national economy very high. This year, customs is targeted to reach Rp173 trillion from tobacco excise which is also to strengthen the country's economy.
In order to strengthen this, the East Java II Customs and Excise currently has a special application called sirolek to detect the circulation of illegal cigarettes. "Through this application, officers from the TNI-Polri and Satpol PP can detect and report quickly if there are findings of illegal cigarettes in the community," concluded Oentarto. (say/yon)
