Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The presence and active role of religious leaders are greatly needed to support development programs and maintain the conduciveness of a region, because suggestions, input and criticism from these religious leaders will help determine the future of the region, including the City of Malang.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji during the Mayor of Malang's gathering with religious leaders at the Widya Bhakti Building, Jl. Guntur No. 1 Oro-oro Dowo, Klojen District, Malang City, Tuesday (25/08/2020). Also attending the gathering were Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko and Assistant for Government and Public Welfare of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Sri Winarni, SH.
In addition to expressing gratitude to the Diocese of Malang for its contribution to the City of Malang, the Mayor of Malang also hopes that in the future Christian religious leaders will be more proactive in contributing their thoughts to the Malang City Government, especially in the midst of a pandemic like the current one so that the community remains productive.
"Through an event like this, it will be more effective to accommodate aspirations and even what the people complain about. All can be conveyed well and can avoid various unwanted things," added the bespectacled man.
Regarding this event, the Bishop of Malang Diocese, Mgr. Hendricus Pidyarto Gunawan O.Carm. said that his party was very grateful to the Mayor of Malang and his staff. "This activity is one proof that the local government is close to its citizens, especially with interfaith figures," he said.
After the diocese and meeting with interfaith figures this time, similar activities will be continued with other religious figures, namely Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism. Thus, the relationship between the Malang City Government in the future will be stronger, so that the community is more conducive and the development program runs optimally. (say/yon)
